If you’re reading this, we’ve officially made it to March. Surviving and escaping the February funk. And wow… last month’s energy was a lot.
Ironically, right after publishing my Substack post on embracing change, life decided to test me. The changes came full force. I officially started a new role at work (yay!!), and while it’s such an exciting blessing, I won’t lie I've felt overwhelmed almost every day. Combine that with one of the coldest winters Boston has seen in years, and it was way too easy to fall into that seasonal slump, feeling unsatisfied with the day-to-day.
But last week, a few things really shifted my perspective.
1. Affirmations Changed the Game
Hear me out. I know affirmations can sometimes feel basic and annoying, but when I found myself frustrated at work, I started repeating, “You can do hard things.” And honestly? It helped! Another one I love is, “I GET to do this,” instead of thinking ugh, I have so much to do. Reframing my mindset in real time created an instant shift. It’s wild how much power your thoughts hold.
2. A Reminder That Everything is Temporary
Boston finally saw several 40-degree+ days in a row and I immediately felt lighter. The warmer weather reminded me that everything is temporary-the harshest winters, the most stressful seasons, and the funks we get stuck in. The shift in temperature made me want to go outside, be around people, and break out of that stuck energy. Turns out, not freezing at the bus stop can be life-changing.
3. Fun is the Secret to Alignment
The biggest shift happened when my mom and I went to see Gabby Bernstein on her book tour for Self Help. I’ve been a huge fan of hers for over a decade. She was my introduction to self-development and spirituality. The core message of her new book? When you’re looking for help, it always comes back to SELF. Alignment starts within, and the more in tune you are with yourself, the more the universe responds.
During the Q&A, a woman in the audience tearfully asked what to do when she feels completely lost—like the pressure of life is too much, and she has no clue what direction to take. Gabby’s answer was so simple, yet so real:
Prioritize fun.
When you embody joy, the right opportunities and desires naturally find their way to you. Instead of hyper-focusing on everything that’s wrong, shift your focus to what feels good. That’s where the magic happens.
4. Gratitude is Always the Answer
And of course, my favorite practice gratitude. Like affirmations, gratitude instantly changes your mood and rewires your perspective.
Last week, I volunteered in the kitchen at a local women’s center, and let me tell you, it snapped me out of my self-pity real quick. I caught myself thinking, WTF am I even complaining about? My cushy WFH job? Sometimes, we need to step outside of our own little bubble to realize our “problems” are actually good problems to have. Giving back humbles you. It reminds you to use your blessings to help others.
I’m grateful for all experiences. The good, the challenging, and the in-between. You should be too! That’s the flow of life. Try not to stay in a negative space for too long. As Gabby says, remember to SELF help.
If You’re Still Feeling Stuck in the Funk, Remember This:
Repeat affirmations to shift your mindset.
Remind yourself that everything is temporary.
Prioritize fun, it’s the key to alignment.
Embrace gratitude, it changes everything.
Through tough seasons, through change, through the heaviness of winter seek the fun, find the light. Spring is almost here. I love you!

Leeza
